About

King of Judah, son of Asa, who reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. He walked in the ways of his father and did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. Chronicles tells how he sent princes, Levites, and priests to teach the law in the cities of Judah. He made peace with Israel and went with Ahab to battle at Ramoth Gilead, and Jehu son of Hanani rebuked him for it. He later marched with Joram king of Israel, the son of Ahab, against Moab. When a great army came against Judah he proclaimed a fast and prayed, and the invaders destroyed one another. He was buried in the city of David.
