Account & Login

How do I reset my password?

Go to your Account page and click "Reset password." We'll send a reset link to the email address on your account. Click the link in that email and you'll be taken to a page where you can set a new password.

How do I change my email address?

To update the email address on your account, contact us at support@sacredlineage.net with your current email and the new one you'd like to use. We'll make the change for you.

How do I delete my account?

Go to your Account page and scroll to the "Danger Zone" section. Click "Delete account," then confirm when prompted. This will permanently delete your account and all associated data. A Church Ministry subscription is cancelled at the same time, and a Sacred Scholar purchase cannot be moved to a new account. This action cannot be undone.

Purchases & Billing

How do I get Sacred Scholar?

Sacred Scholar is a one-time purchase of $9.99 — yours forever, with no subscription. On the web, go to your Account page and click "Get Sacred Scholar" to pay through our secure Stripe checkout. In the iPhone, iPad, and Android apps, tap "Unlock everything" on the paywall to buy through the App Store or Google Play. Either way, every Scholar feature — the full cast of figures, era and relationship filters, personal study notes, PDF exports, the chronological timeline, Teaching Mode, and study sets — unlocks immediately once payment is confirmed.

Do I need an account to buy Sacred Scholar in the app?

No. In the iPhone, iPad, and Android apps you can browse for free and buy Sacred Scholar without registering — it unlocks on your device as soon as the store confirms the purchase. Creating an account is optional: it lets you save study notes and use your purchase on your other devices, including the web. You can sign in at any time from the paywall or the Account tab, and your purchase will carry over. If you reinstall or switch devices, tap "Restore purchases" on the paywall.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Sacred Scholar is a one-time purchase, so there is nothing to cancel — it stays yours. Church Ministry is the only subscription: go to your Account page and click "Manage billing" to open the Stripe Customer Portal, where you can cancel or switch between monthly and annual at any time. Church Ministry access continues through the end of the current billing period.

How do I get a refund?

For web (Stripe) purchases, we offer refunds within 7 days — email support@sacredlineage.net with the email on your account and the reason for your request; refunds are typically processed within 3–5 business days. Purchases made through the App Store are refunded by Apple: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Purchases made through Google Play are refunded by Google: request one from your Google Play order history.

Family Tree & Data

How do I export a PDF?

PDF export is a Sacred Scholar feature. Select any biblical figure in the tree by clicking their node, then click the PDF export button in their info panel. The exported PDF includes the person's details, relationships, and any personal study notes you've written.

Why don’t I see every biblical figure in the tree?

On the free plan the family tree shows the primary figures — the core line of Scripture and its best-known characters. The complete cast, including secondary figures like the writing prophets, the kings of the exile, and Paul’s companions, is unlocked with Sacred Scholar (and included in Church Ministry). Once unlocked, every figure appears in the graph and you can scope the view by era. You’ll see a note above the tree telling you how many figures are currently shown.

What do the colors and era labels (Genesis Era, Kingdom Era, etc.) mean?

Each figure is color-coded by the era and section of Scripture they belong to — Genesis Era, Judges Era, Kingdom Era, Prophets & Writings, Apostle, NT Figure, and The Messiah. These are era tags, not roles, which is why Sarah or Leah read "Genesis Era" rather than "Patriarch," and why Esther reads "Prophets & Writings" rather than "Prophet." The legend above the graph lists every color, and with Sacred Scholar you can click the era chips to show or hide whole sections.

How do I filter the tree?

Sacred Scholar unlocks two filter bars above the tree. The relationship filter toggles connection types — Parent/Child, Spouse, Sibling, Ancestor, Teacher, Forerunner, Friend, Relative, Anointed, and Rival. The era filter toggles whole sections of Scripture (Genesis Era through The Messiah). Click any chip to show or hide it, and "Show all" to reset. Free users see a preview of both filter bars but cannot interact with them.

What does "Trace the line of Jesus" do?

The "Trace line of Jesus" button (free for everyone) highlights the line of descent from Adam to Jesus and dims everything else. Solid grey edges are direct parent-to-child links; dashed amber "Ancestor" edges span gaps where generations of genealogy-only names have been left out. Click the button again, or "View all," to return to the full graph.

Why are some biblical names missing from the genealogies?

Scripture’s genealogies include many names that appear only to connect a line — a name in a list, with no story of their own. To keep the tree readable these are left out of the graph, and a dashed amber "Ancestor" edge spans the gap instead. You can see the full list of omitted names, with notes on the noteworthy ones, on the Genealogy Notes page (linked in the site footer).

Why does a person appear in a book filter but not in their Key Appearances?

Browse by Book and Key Appearances draw from two different datasets. Browse by Book casts a wider net — a figure appears in a book's list if their name, tribe, or lineage is mentioned anywhere in that book, even in passing or through a descendant. Key Appearances, on the other hand, is a curated list of the specific verses where that individual is directly and notably present. For example, Levi appears under Revelation in Browse by Book because the tribe of Levi is named in Revelation 7:7, but Levi's personal story concludes in Genesis, so no Revelation verse appears in his Key Appearances. This is intentional — Browse by Book helps you discover connections across Scripture, while Key Appearances focuses on the person's own story.

Teaching & Study Sets

How do I set up study sets?

Study sets are available on Sacred Scholar and Church Ministry. On Sacred Scholar, go to your Account page, find the "Study Sets" card, and click "+ New Study Set." On Church Ministry, sets live in the Ministry Dashboard under "Curriculum Study Sets" and are shared with your whole ministry. Either way, give the set a title, an optional description, and select the biblical figures to include using the people picker. Once saved, you can teach the set in Teaching Mode or focus the family tree on just those people. Study sets are created on the web — in the iPhone and iPad app you can open and teach your existing sets, but not create new ones yet.

How do I start Teaching Mode?

Teaching Mode is a full-screen presentation view of the family tree for classes, groups, and services, available on Sacred Scholar and Church Ministry. On the web, open the Family Tree and click the projector icon in the controls at the top right of the graph — or click "Teach" next to any study set on your Account page or Ministry Dashboard to open that set directly. In the iPhone and iPad app, open the Family Tree tab and tap "Teaching Mode," then choose a study set or teach over the full graph.

Church Ministry

How do I invite members?

Go to your Account page and click "Ministry Dashboard." Enter a member's email address in the "Invite Member" section and click "Send Invite." They'll receive an email with a link to join your ministry. Your Church Ministry plan includes up to 25 member seats.

How do I manage seats?

The Ministry Dashboard shows a seat gauge with your current usage and remaining seats. To free up a seat, find the member in the Members table and click "Remove." You can reactivate a removed member at any time as long as seats are available.
