Successor to Elijah, asked for and received a 'double portion' of his master's spirit. He performed twice as many recorded miracles as Elijah — purifying a poisoned spring, multiplying a widow's oil, raising a child from the dead, healing Naaman the Syrian's leprosy, causing iron to float, and feeding 100 men with 20 loaves. He served Israel through the reigns of six kings.
