About

One of the greatest prophets of Israel, he appeared suddenly in the reign of wicked King Ahab. He declared a three-year drought, was fed by ravens, raised a widow's son, challenged 450 prophets of Baal to a contest on Mount Carmel and called down fire from heaven, and fled in despair to Horeb where God spoke to him in a still small voice. He was taken to heaven in a whirlwind by a chariot of fire. Malachi predicted his return before the great day of the Lord.
