King of Judah, the youngest son of Jehoram, whose mother was Athaliah of the house of Omri. He reigned one year in Jerusalem. He walked in the way of the house of Ahab and did evil in the sight of the Lord, and Chronicles says his mother counseled him to do wickedly. He went with Joram of Israel to war against Hazael of Syria at Ramoth Gilead, then visited the wounded Joram at Jezreel. Jehu, anointed to cut off the house of Ahab, came to Jezreel and killed Joram there. In 2 Kings Ahaziah was struck in his chariot and died at Megiddo.
