About

Prophet called son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, in his book and son of Iddo in Ezra, and neither the king of Israel of that name nor the priest who was father of John the Baptist. He called his hearers back to the Lord in the second year of Darius. In visions he saw Joshua the high priest clothed anew and a golden lampstand between two olive trees, and heard that Zerubbabel would finish the house by the Lord's Spirit, not by might. A later chapter tells of a lowly king coming to Zion on a donkey, a verse Matthew and John quote at the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.
