About

Prophet whose messages are all dated within the second year of Darius the king. The book names no father or town for him. Work on the house of the Lord in Jerusalem had stopped, and the people said the time to build had not come. Through Haggai the Lord asked whether it was time to live in paneled houses while his house lay waste. Zerubbabel the governor, Joshua the high priest and the people obeyed and set to work. Haggai told them to be strong because the Lord was with them, and promised a greater glory and peace in that place. The book ends with the Lord choosing Zerubbabel.
