About
Young Jewish woman from Nazareth, engaged to Joseph, who was visited by the angel Gabriel and told she would conceive a son by the Holy Spirit who would be called the Son of God. Her response was 'I am the Lord's servant.' She visited her cousin Elizabeth (whose unborn child leaped for joy), traveled to Bethlehem for the census where Jesus was born, fled with Joseph and Jesus to Egypt, and was present at Jesus' first miracle. She stood at the cross during the crucifixion and was among the disciples praying after the ascension.
