About

King of Judah, son of Uzziah. When the Lord struck his father with leprosy, Jotham took charge of the royal household and judged the people of the land. As king he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as his father had done, though the high places remained and the people still acted corruptly. He built the upper gate of the house of the Lord, raised cities and towers in Judah, and defeated the Ammonites, who paid him tribute. Chronicles says he grew mighty because of the way he walked before the Lord. His son Ahaz reigned after him.
