About

King of Israel, son of Jehu, who reigned seventeen years in Samaria. He did evil in the sight of the Lord and held to the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat. The Lord's anger burned against Israel, and he gave them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria and his son Ben-hadad. Jehoahaz pleaded with the Lord, and the Lord listened, for he saw how Syria oppressed Israel, and he gave them a deliverer. Yet the people did not turn from their sins. Jehoahaz was left with fifty horsemen, ten chariots and ten thousand foot soldiers. His son Jehoash reigned after him.
