About
Son of Isaac and Rebekah, twin of Esau. He obtained his brother's birthright and tricked his father into giving him the blessing intended for Esau. He fled to his uncle Laban, worked 14 years for his wives Rachel and Leah, and fathered the ancestors of the twelve tribes of Israel. He wrestled with God and was renamed Israel ('one who struggles with God'). He had twelve sons who became the patriarchs of the twelve tribes.
