Herod Antipas

About

Son of Herod the Great, tetrarch of Galilee and Perea during Jesus' ministry. He had John the Baptist imprisoned for denouncing his marriage to Herodias (his brother's wife), then reluctantly had John beheaded when Herodias's daughter's dance pleased him and he rashly promised her anything. Jesus called him 'that fox.' Pilate sent Jesus to Herod during the trial, but Herod merely mocked him and sent him back.
