Samuel

Born to Hannah after years of barrenness, he was dedicated to the Lord before birth. He heard God's voice as a child in the temple under Eli. He became the last of the major judges and the first of the writing prophets, anointing both Saul and David as kings. He warned Israel about the consequences of having a king, but God granted their request. He is listed among the heroes of faith in Hebrews.
