An elderly prophetess of the tribe of Asher, widowed after seven years of marriage, who never left the temple but worshiped night and day with fasting and prayer. Coming up just as Simeon blessed the infant Jesus, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.
