About
Third son of David, renowned for his physical beauty and his long, thick hair. He murdered his half-brother Amnon to avenge his sister Tamar, fled, and was eventually restored to David. He then launched an armed revolt against his own father and briefly drove David from Jerusalem. He was killed when his hair caught in an oak tree while fleeing on a mule, and Joab ran him through despite David's orders to spare him.
