About

King of the northern kingdom of Israel, the son and successor of Jeroboam. He began to reign in the second year of Asa king of Judah and reigned two years. Scripture says he did evil in the sight of the Lord, walking in the way of his father and in the sin by which Jeroboam made Israel sin. While Nadab and all Israel were besieging Gibbethon, a Philistine town, Baasha son of Ahijah of the house of Issachar conspired against him and struck him down. Baasha reigned in his place and destroyed the whole house of Jeroboam, as the Lord had spoken through Ahijah the Shilonite.
